with Michèle LAROQUE and Mohamed BELKHIR

Les Nuits Lyriques and Cinéma Le Plaza have had close ties for many years, and this partnership pays tribute to the close ties between these two arts, which share a tendency to tell emotional and visual stories that arouse deep emotions in audiences.

Antoine, a young Parisian suburbanite, studies accountancy without much conviction, dividing his time between his talented rap battles and his job as a sushi delivery boy. During a run at the Opéra Garnier, his path crosses that of Mme Loyseau, a singing teacher at the venerable institution, who detects in Antoine a raw talent to be nurtured. Despite his lack of operatic culture, Antoine is fascinated by this form of expression and is persuaded to follow Madame Loyseau’s teaching. Antoine has no choice but to lie to his family, his friends and the whole city, for whom opera is a bourgeois affair, far removed from their world.

Monique Thomas, Soprano – Concours International de Chant 2010

Didier Ottaviani, Drums

Yann Pénichu, Guitar

Hervé Saint-Guirons, Organ

Monique Thomas, born in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), is a multi-faceted artist who can switch from jazz to soul, from gospel to opera, at the snap of a finger, bringing a touch of novelty to everything she sings. After studying at the Bordeaux Conservatoire, she took part in the Concours International de Chant de Marmande in the mid-2000s.

The Monique Thomas Quartet invites you to an unusual and bucolic venue. We invite you to discover a repertoire devoted to female Blues composers.

A unique encounter combining music, heritage and conviviality, which you can follow up with a meal organized by the Café associatif de Castelnau, payable on site.
